Reading Club” Read-a-saurus”

We are delighted to announce that Beacon Academy is introducing an annual Reading Programme, “Read-a-saurus” for Years 1 to 5. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to improve their reading, writing and speaking skills and earn a reward as well! We want you to share their excitement for reading.

READING PROGRAM

Program Name: Reading Club” Read-a-saurus”

Program Period: 2 Months

Objective: To promote Good reading habits

Details of the Program:

The students need to complete the following assignments.

Target:

Year 1 & 2 students should read 3 books. On the basis of reading books, the students will share the stories of 3 books with the class* and submit the book reports of 2 books to the Homeroom Teacher (Book report format will be provided to students).

Year 3 students should read 5 books. On the basis of reading books, the students will share the stories of 4 books with the class* and submit the book reports of 4 books to the Homeroom Teacher (Book report format will be provided to students).

Year 4 students should read 7 books. On the basis of reading books, the students will share the stories of 5 books with the class* and submit the book reports of 5 books to the Homeroom Teacher(Book report format will be provided to students).

Year 5 students should read 9 books ( at least two non-fiction books). On the basis of reading books, the students will share the stories of 7 books with the class* and submit the book reports of 7 books to the Homeroom Teacher (Book report format will be provided to students).

*The sharing of the stories can be either in the form of a poster or a narration.

Instructions:

  • The students have a choice of books to read from the Library, but if the child picks up a book from his/her own collection then that needs to be approved by the Homeroom Teacher.
  • The book titles which are also available as movies will not be considered.
  • All the books should not be from the same series or by the same author.

Note: The library will keep the reading records.

Reward: the students will receive a Certificate, a T-shirt and an ice cream party on the successful completion of this program.
