A Week of Wonder: Beacon Academy Celebrates Book Bash 2026

Beacon Academy recently brought the joy of reading to life through its much-anticipated Book Bash Week, held from 26–30 January. The week-long celebration united our Junior School community in a shared commitment to nurturing confident, enthusiastic readers.

The festivities began with students bringing their favourite books from home, sparking thoughtful discussions and peer recommendations during class reading sessions. Classrooms were filled with excitement as students immersed themselves in stories, discovering new characters, adventures, and perspectives.

A particular highlight of the week was the much-loved Mystery Reader programme. Parent volunteers surprised classes with special storytelling visits, creating memorable moments that beautifully reflected the strong partnership between home and school. The sense of anticipation, curiosity, and engagement during each session made the experience truly meaningful for our young learners.

Creativity took centre stage during the Book Character Dress-Up Parade on Friday. Students arrived dressed as their favourite literary characters, showcasing imaginative costumes thoughtfully assembled from items at home. The parade was a joyful celebration of confidence, creativity, and a shared love of books across the school.

Adding to the excitement, students enthusiastically participated in the Reading Bingo challenge, completing reading-related activities at home and proudly sharing their achievements with their teachers and peers.

More than a themed week, Book Bash 2026 served as a powerful reminder that reading connects us, inspires imagination, and supports the development of thoughtful, globally minded learners at Beacon Academy.
