Kartini Day 2026: Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang

On 21 April 2026, our school community gathered to commemorate Kartini Day with a meaningful and inspiring event for students from JS to SS. The celebration honored the legacy of R.A. Kartini, a national heroine who championed women’s education and equality.

The highlight of the event was a short musical drama that vividly portrayed Kartini’s life journey. It began with her family background, illustrating the cultural expectations and limitations she faced as a young girl. Through expressive acting, narration, and music, the students brought to life her struggles and determination to pursue education and independence. The story progressed to show how Kartini eventually fulfilled her dream of contributing to society, before concluding with a poignant depiction of her passing—reminding the audience of her enduring legacy.

What made the performance even more special were the cultural elements woven throughout the drama. Students showcased angklung performances, traditional dances, Indonesian old songs, and poetry recitation, enriching the storytelling with vibrant artistic expression. Notably, our exchange students actively participated in the angklung ensemble and performed the “Ratoh Jaroe” dance. Their involvement highlighted not only their appreciation of Indonesian culture but also their meaningful learning experience at our school.

Overall, the event was both engaging and educational, encouraging students to reflect on the values of perseverance, courage, and equality that Kartini stood for.
