Jakarta, 25 September 2026 — Beacon Academy successfully hosted “Echoes of Tomorrow”, its 2026 Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Conference, bringing together IB Diploma Programme students from schools across Indonesia for a day of intellectual exploration, collaboration and meaningful discussion.
Carrying the theme “Echoes of Tomorrow”, the conference encouraged students to reflect on how the choices and decisions we make today can shape the world of tomorrow. Throughout the programme, students explored the connections between knowledge, uncertainty, values and responsibility, while considering how different perspectives can influence the future.
The programme featured a keynote session by Professor Deborah N. Simorangkir, Professor of Public Relations and Gender Studies and Director of Cooperation at Swiss German University. Drawing on her expertise in communication, culture and society, Professor Deborah shared insights into how different perspectives and cultural influences shape the way we understand knowledge and the world around us.
Beyond the keynote, students participated in a series of interactive activities, including The Butterfly Effect, Fortunes Demise, The Wrong Wish and Judgements Journey. Through games, workshops and collaborative challenges, participants were encouraged to think critically, evaluate evidence, question assumptions and understand the consequences of different decisions.
The conference centred on a thought-provoking question:
“What kind of future are we creating, and what responsibility do we have in shaping it?”
Through Echoes of Tomorrow, Beacon Academy provided students with an engaging platform to exchange ideas, challenge perspectives and connect Theory of Knowledge with the complex questions shaping our future.
