Jakarta, 29 May 2026 — Beacon Academy successfully held its Student-Led Conference (SLC) for Junior School students on Friday, 29 May 2026, providing families with a meaningful opportunity to celebrate each child’s learning journey throughout the academic year. The Student-Led Conference is a key component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), placing students at the centre of the learning conversation. Unlike a traditional parent-teacher conference, students take the lead in sharing their progress, achievements, reflections, and personal goals with their parents, while teachers serve as facilitators throughout the experience.
Held in each student’s classroom, the conference enabled learners to confidently present evidence of their growth across a range of subjects and learning experiences. Students guided their parents through their Units of Inquiry, explained their conceptual understanding, showcased work from different subject areas, and reflected on the development of their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and the IB Learner Profile attributes. Throughout the conference, students demonstrated increasing independence, responsibility, and self-management as they articulated their learning process, discussed challenges they had overcome, and identified goals for continued growth. The event encouraged meaningful dialogue between students and parents, reinforcing the importance of reflection and student agency in the learning process. Parents actively engaged with their children’s presentations by asking questions, celebrating achievements, and gaining deeper insights into how learning takes place both inside and beyond the classroom.
