At Beacon Academy, the preschool learners include Nursery, Kindergarten 1, and Kindergarten 2. Our preschool learners are actively engaged in various stages of learning, including thinking about, planning, modifying, and creating. We foster an atmosphere of warmth and creativity where spontaneous learning and reflection are encouraged. Our programmes offer an engaging environment where children develop the essential qualities of being confident and active learners.
IB Primary Years Programme (Preschool)
Our Preschool programme is designed to actively engage and stimulate young students through inquiry-based learning and play, fostering their academic, personal, and social development.
The programme aims to achieve the following goals by encouraging children to:
- Making choices and decisions
- Using materials in flexible and imaginative ways
- Initiate inquiries and pose thought-provoking questions
- Collaborate effectively with their peers
- Sustain their interests and expand their knowledge
- Develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world in which they live

Supportive and Caring Environment
Our Preschool Programme thrives on the invaluable contributions of our highly qualified and caring team of teachers. They play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of the programme, including the academic and social development of each child and providing tailored support.
With the advantage of small class sizes, and 1:7 teacher ratio, our teachers can devote their attention to every student, fostering their growth and addressing their specific needs. We also prioritize building strong relationships with families, aiming to meet them prior to a child’s enrolment at Beacon. This proactive approach allows us to gather as much information as possible about the student, ensuring a smooth and joyful transition into our school.

Curriculum
Beacon Academy supports cognitive, social-emotional and physical development through different types of play and inquiry. The environment and instructional philosophy of the school, provide developmentally appropriate experiences that focus on the development of skills. Our curriculum engages the learners in different core subjects like English, Mathematics, Unit of Inquiry(Science and Social Studies), Dance, Physical Education, Arts and Languages.
The medium of instruction is in English. Our learners begin engaging with Bahasa and Mandarin from Preschool. Teachers use a variety of audio, video, and pictorial displays to encourage curiosity and develop listening and speaking skills.
Students’ learning is documented, monitored and reported using the Toddle platform. The experience allows for a variety of forms to be captured and communicated, such as pictures, audio and video. Parents are provided with a window into their child’s learning, and they are encouraged to actively participate in the process, through classroom presentations and school events.

Nursery 2: 8.30 – 12.30 PM
Kindergarten 1: 8.30 – 12.30 PM
Kindergarten 2: 8.00 – 13.00 PM
