On 27th and 28th May 2025, the Junior School at Beacon Academy proudly presented its very first large-scale Performing and Creative Arts (PACA) Showcase “Kindness and Courage: Colours of the Heart”. This pioneering event brought together students, teachers, parents, and visitors from schools across Jakarta in a joyful celebration of creativity, collaboration, and compassion.
Inspired by The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde, the entire showcase was built around a unified storyline, unfolding across various artistic expressions. The corridors of the third and fourth floors were transformed into interactive exhibition galleries, filled with student created installations, collages, sculptures, and mixed media artworks. These works were not only aesthetically impressive but also conceptually rich, reflecting students’ deep engagement with contemporary and meaningful themes such as kindness, emotional growth, and transformation.
JS students demonstrated a genuine willingness to explore and experiment, embracing conceptual art and expressing themselves through innovative materials and techniques. Their commitment to producing high-quality, thoughtful artwork was truly commendable.
The arts team, visual art, music, drama, and dance teachers worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the event, designing a cohesive showcase that wove together visual storytelling, musical busking, dramatic narration, and dance performances. Their dedication ensured that the tale of the selfish giant was brought to life with heart and harmony.
This event was a first for Beacon and marked a new chapter in how we celebrate the arts. The school community came together in full support, with warm participation from parents, Board members, and teachers from other schools. Their presence and encouragement were deeply appreciated.
We are humbled by the response and sincerely hope the event inspired others, just as our students were inspired throughout their creative journey.
