Week Without Walls: Unleashing Adventure for Middle and Senior School!

The Year 11 Week Without Walls trip to Malaysia, from September 30 to October 4, provided students with enriching experiences promoting personal growth, cultural awareness, and community service aligned with the CAS philosophy. Highlights included camping, survival skills training, astronomy lessons, and trekking, fostering teamwork, resilience, and a deeper connection with nature. Students learned essential skills like fire-building and identifying edible plants, while also building stronger friendships through shared challenges. The trip broadened their perspectives, cultivated a sense of global citizenship, and created lasting memories, preparing them for future growth in the IBDP and beyond.

From September 30 to October 4, 2024, Year 12 students embarked on a “Week Without Walls” trip to Malaysia, guided by Mr. Parvez, Ms. Sarah, Ms. Evi, Mr. Phelix, and local guides. The trip included visits to Putra Jaya, Dataran Merdeka, and Planetarium Negara, sparking curiosity about history and space science. Students engaged in constellation lessons, survival skills training, and visited the chocolate factory and Batu Caves. The trip concluded with visits to Istana Negara and a museum, deepening their understanding of Malaysian culture and heritage. This journey enriched both their academic knowledge and personal growth.

The Year 9 Week Without Walls trip to Lombok was a four-day adventure filled with cultural immersion, outdoor exploration, and team bonding. Students visited Sukarara Traditional Village, Mandalika Beach, and the Senaru Mountain Range, where they trekked to the Tiu Kelep Waterfall. They enjoyed snorkeling at Gili Trawangan, visited the Mangrove Lake, and cycled around the island. The trip also included visits to Pura Batu Bolong and Banyumulek village for pottery-making. Fun activities like beach games, banana boat rides, and a bonfire at Senggigi Beach added excitement. The trip fostered camaraderie, learning, and unforgettable memories for all.

The Year 8 Week Without Walls trip to Jogjakarta was a transformative journey from September 30th to October 4th. Students immersed themselves in Javanese culture in Penting Sari Village, learning traditional practices, exploring Mount Merapi’s history, and trekking through Kali Kuning. They also experienced cave tubing at Goa Pindul, visited Malioboro Street, watched the Ramayana Ballet, and participated in a treasure hunt. Guided by Mr. Iqbal, Ms. Leena, and Mr. Restu, the trip fostered cultural appreciation, teamwork, and problem-solving. Accompanied by a nurse for safety, students returned home enriched with invaluable memories and life skills.

From October 1 to 4, 2024, Year 6 and 7 students embarked on a “Week Without Walls” trip to Lembang, Bandung, guided by Mr. Mike, Ms. Susan, and Mr. Archie. Their journey began with a train ride to Padalarang, followed by team-building activities at Trizara Resort that strengthened friendships and fostered teamwork. Highlights included an adventurous Rover ride through rugged terrain, an exhilarating paintball competition, and a serene trek through Lorong Lumut. The trip concluded with a visit to the Floating Market, where students immersed themselves in local culture and cuisine, leaving with cherished memories of adventure and growth.
