On October 24, 2024, our preschool celebrated United Nations Day with the vibrant theme of “Ubuntu,” an African philosophy that means “I am because we are.” This powerful message of unity and togetherness was beautifully reflected as students, teachers, and parents came together for a joyful celebration.
The event featured representations from five diverse countries: South Korea, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and China. Each classroom was decorated to highlight the culture of these nations, and the children arrived dressed in colorful costumes, showcasing traditional attire from each country. It was truly a global celebration with everyone joining in the spirit of community and cooperation.
The highlight of the event was a cultural showcase, where students performed traditional dances and songs from the represented countries. There was even a special performance of the Chinese Barongsai, which captivated the audience with its energy and flair. Parents also joined in the festivities, supporting the children and contributing to the event’s joyful atmosphere.
Food stalls featuring international cuisine added to the excitement, with families sampling traditional dishes from Korean’s Japchae to Italy’s Pizza. The children and parents alike enjoyed the cultural immersion, with laughter, smiles, and new friendships blossoming throughout the day.
It was a memorable day filled with fun, learning, and a deep sense of togetherness, embodying the Ubuntu spirit. Both children and parents left with happy hearts, cherishing the beautiful celebration of unity in diversity.
