Beacon Academy Students Experience Cultural Exchange at Hale School in Australia
Francesco and Pranav, Year 11 students from Beacon Academy, Jakarta, recently participated in the school’s inaugural cultural exchange program with Hale School in Perth, Australia. The month-long exchange, fully funded by Hale School (excluding plane tickets), offered the students a chance to immerse themselves in Australian culture and education.
During their stay, both students were assigned host families who guided them through various cultural experiences. Francis’ host family took him on sightseeing trips around Western Australia, exposing him to the region’s vibrant culture and diverse heritage. Meanwhile, Pranav’s host family introduced him to the beauty of the Australian outdoors through camping trips and visits to scenic locations, enriching his understanding of local traditions.
The exchange program allowed both students to adapt to a new academic environment, engage with peers from diverse backgrounds, and broaden their worldview. “This experience challenged us to step out of our comfort zones and grow both socially and academically,” said Francis. Pranav added, “We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the support from our host families and Beacon Academy, and we hope future students will benefit from similar experiences.”
This cultural exchange has made a lasting impact on both students and strengthened the bond between Beacon Academy and Hale School.
