Beacon Academy Celebrates Kartini Day 2025

On Monday, April 21, 2025, Beacon Academy was filled with pride and cultural vibrance as the entire school community came together to celebrate Kartini Day—a national commemoration of Raden Ajeng Kartini, the Indonesian heroine who championed women’s rights and access to education.

The celebration began with Indonesian Attire Day, where students and teachers arrived in traditional outfits like kebaya, batik, beskap, and sarongs. The campus was transformed into a lively showcase of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, complete with a photo booth to capture the memorable moments.

Throughout the day, students from all grade levels engaged in meaningful activities that highlighted Kartini’s legacy. From class discussions to creative projects, the focus centered on education, gender equality, and empowerment.

Even the youngest learners joined the celebration. In preschool, children enjoyed a special storytelling session that introduced Kartini’s inspiring journey in an age-appropriate way. They also played traditional games like congklak and proudly participated in an adorable fashion show dressed in traditional attire.

Older students took the celebration a step further by producing a special video performance of the song “Ibu Kita Kartini,” complete with singing and dancing. They also explored Kartini’s influential letters and visionary ideas—messages that still fuel the fight for equality today.

More than just a cultural event, the celebration served as a powerful reminder of Kartini’s enduring message. As students headed home, they carried not only festive memories but also a renewed sense of respect for education, equality, and cultural pride.
