Year 4 and 5 “Days Without Desks” at Highlands Park, Bogor
From November 4–6, our Year 4 and 5 students embarked on an exciting “Days Without Desks” learning adventure at Highlands Park in Bogor. The three days were filled with exploration, teamwork, courage, and laughter — a true celebration of learning beyond the classroom.
Students began their journey with engaging team-building activities designed to strengthen collaboration, problem-solving, and communication. Divided into creatively named groups — Rendang, Biryani, Paneer, and Masala — they worked together through challenges like Bulldozer, T-Stick, Maze, and Lift the Ball. These activities helped them discover the power of teamwork, trust, and celebrating each other’s strengths.
The adventure continued with a challenging trek through the lush trails leading to a stunning waterfall. Despite the muddy and steep paths, our young risk-takers demonstrated perseverance, courage, and resilience — truly embodying the IB Learner Profile. The reward of reaching the breathtaking waterfall made every step worthwhile. Students also had the chance to enjoy archery, golf, paintball, and horseback riding, where they practiced focus, patience, and confidence while having fun.
Evenings at Highlands Park brought moments of connection and reflection. Sleeping in modern tents, sharing stories under the stars, and gathering around the bonfire to sing, perform, and celebrate made the experience truly memorable.
The “Days Without Desks” trip fostered independence, friendship, and a spirit of adventure. Our Year 4 and 5 learners returned home with new skills, cherished memories, and a deeper appreciation for learning beyond the classroom walls.
Year 2 and 3
On November 5–6, our Year 2 and Year 3 students took part in the enriching Days Without Desks program at Camp Hulu Cai in Bogor. The journey began with an enjoyable bus ride filled with cheerful conversations as students travelled alongside their chosen friends, eagerly looking forward to the experiences ahead.
Upon arrival, students enjoyed a light snack before engaging in a series of interactive games designed to encourage independence, self-discipline, creativity, and teamwork. After lunch, they explored the outbound playground and took turns on the Flying Fox — an exhilarating moment that quickly became a favourite for many.
As the day continued, students participated in a tote bag decorating activity, expressing their creativity through personalised designs. The evening concluded with a warm and lively campfire gathering featuring singing, dancing, and marshmallow roasting — a memorable end to an exciting day.
The following morning began bright and early, with students energized for another day of learning and fun. After breakfast and free play in the playground, they participated in the much-anticipated fish-catching activity. While some students jumped in immediately and others observed before joining, everyone eventually enjoyed the lively, splash-filled experience.
This two-day trip was filled with joy, exploration, and meaningful connections. Though students were reluctant to leave after lunch, they returned to school with cherished memories and strengthened confidence. The experience clearly demonstrated that learning thrives not only at a desk, but in moments of curiosity, collaboration, and adventure. We are extremely proud of our Year 2 and 3 learners for embracing every challenge with enthusiasm and positivity.
Year 1 :
As part of the Days Without Desks programme, our enthusiastic Year 1 learners spent a night on campus — an experience filled with laughter, learning, and independence! The day began with an exciting picnic outing, followed by engaging activities that kept everyone energized. Back on campus, dinner and a movie night — complete with freshly popped popcorn — made the evening truly magical.
It was heartwarming to see our young learners confidently manage themselves, follow routines, and support one another, all without their parents by their side. Through this overnight adventure, they demonstrated the attributes of risk-takers and open-minded inquirers. The experience nurtured their resilience and gave them a glimpse of life beyond the familiar comfort of home.
Our Year 1s returned with smiling faces, fuller hearts, and bags brimming with unforgettable memories from their night on campus!
