Bridging Generations: Celebrating Wisdom, Love, and Learning at Beacon Academy’s Grandparents’ Day

On February 20, 2026, Beacon Academy proudly celebrated Grandparents’ Day—an event filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful connection. The day was a beautiful reflection of our belief that learning extends beyond the classroom and across generations.

Grandparents were not just honoured guests; they were active participants in the learning experience. Many generously shared their talents and stories—some presented engaging games, others showed heartfelt videos, taught a new language, shared inspiring life stories, and many more! These moments transformed classrooms into spaces of authentic, real-world learning, where wisdom and experience became powerful teaching tools.

In return, students prepared special presentations for their grandparents, including dances, songs, and performances that expressed gratitude and love. One of the most touching moments was when each student personally handed their grandparent a handwritten card filled with meaningful messages. These sincere expressions of appreciation reflected the IB Learner Profile attributes of caring and communicators.

The celebration continued downstairs at the Photo Booth, where families captured joyful memories together. Laughter echoed through the halls as multiple generations posed proudly, preserving moments that will be treasured for years to come.

Grandparents’ Day at Beacon Academy is meaningful because it honours relationships, encourages reflection, and strengthens community bonds. It embodies the IB philosophy of developing internationally minded learners who value connection, empathy, and shared learning experiences. The event reminded us that education is not only about knowledge—it is about relationships, identity, and the wisdom we pass from one generation to the next.
