In today’s fast-paced digital world, young people face unprecedented challenges that shape their identity, relationships, and mental well-being. On 6-7 February 2025, Beacon Academy hosted Daniel Principe, a passionate youth advocate, educator, and 2025 NSW Australian of the Year Nominee, as he led a vital discussion on the impact of the digital age.
Daniel Principe explored key issues affecting young people and the wider community, including:
🔹 Unpacking Stereotypes – Breaking down societal expectations.
🔹 Healthy vs. Unhealthy Masculinities – Redefining strength, respect, and vulnerability.
🔹 Respectful Relationships – Fostering positive and meaningful connections.
🔹 Harms of Social Media & Online Safety – Understanding risks and boundaries.
🔹 Challenging Culture – Encouraging change and inclusivity.
🔹 Cultivating Empathy – Promoting understanding in an online world.
The event also featured separate sessions for students (Years 5–12) and teachers, ensuring age-appropriate discussions and tailored insights. Through these conversations, Principe provided practical tools and strategies to help students navigate digital spaces safely while also equipping educators to support them effectively.
