The TOK Conference at Beacon Academy was an unforgettable event filled with thought- provoking discussions, engaging activities, and lasting memories. On Friday the 13th, students and teachers from seven schools gathered to explore the theme of “Superstitions, Misinformation, and Critical Thinking in a Digital World.” The conference began with an informative and inspiring keynote address by Mr. Ben Rinne, a noted international educator, and a series of interactive icebreaker activities. Human Bingo, Mafia Macabre, Scavenger Hunt, and Spiritual Game provided opportunities for participants to connect and foster a sense of camaraderie while keeping criticality at the fore.
The highlight of the conference was the Cold Case investigation, an immersive murder mystery simulation. Divided into groups, participants were tasked with investigating a crime scene, analyzing evidence, and debating the identity of the murderer. This interactive activity challenged students’ critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities. The conference concluded with a heartfelt closing ceremony featuring speeches by our former school captain, Muhammad Sabri Suryanegara, and TOK Coordinator, Mr. Avinash Kashyap. To conclude the successful TOK Conference, all participants were presented with certificates of participation and awards for being critical thinkers in various events of the day as a token of appreciation for their active engagement. The event concluded on a high note with a captivating musical performance, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
The TOK Conference was a resounding success, providing students with a valuable opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills, collaborate with peers, and explore the complexities of the digital age. The event not only left a lasting impression on all who attended but also fostered a strong sense of community and intellectual engagement. It made everyone feel connected and part of a larger group, united in their pursuit of knowledge and critical thinking.
