First Ascent: A day of Climbing

The climbing club embarked on their first exhilarating trip to a local climbing gym, Indoclimb in FX Senayan, last September 7, 2024. Students were introduced to the thrilling worlds of top rope climbing and bouldering. As beginners, many approached the experience with a mix of excitement and apprehension. However, their initial nerves quickly dissipated as they discovered the supportive and encouraging atmosphere of the club.
Top rope climbing, a method where climbers are secured by a rope running through a pulley system at the top, provided a controlled introduction to climbing. As students tried different routes, they were guided how to move their bodies to finish the route. With each attempt, they learned to trust the equipment, their bodies, and the belay personnel. As they progressed, their confidence soared, and they began to tackle more challenging and higher routes.
Bouldering, a style of climbing done close to the ground without rope but landing on a thick matting for protection, was explored in a short time by trying random routes as most of the members are  exhausted by doing top rope.

Throughout the day, the students demonstrated remarkable resilience and perseverance. When faced with setbacks, they remained determined and sought new strategies. They cheered each other on, celebrated their successes, and learned from their mistakes. The camaraderie and support among the club members were evident, creating a positive learning environment.
