On Friday, 13 February 2026, Beacon Academy Preschool proudly marked its annual Love and Kindness Day under the theme “Small Act, Big Impact.” The celebration served as a heartfelt reminder that even the simplest gestures, when carried out with sincerity and compassion, can make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of others. More than just a themed event, it was a powerful opportunity for our young learners to experience kindness in action.
This year, we partnered with Yayasan Pasien Anak Indonesia to support seven courageous young children aged between two and six who are living with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. In the weeks leading up to the event, each class took part in a special “pick up lot”, drawing the name of a child who would become their class “buddy”. Through personalised profiles featuring photographs and detailed descriptions of daily needs, our students began to build a meaningful connection with their assigned buddy while collecting essential items with care and enthusiasm.
The initiative was delivered through a Project Service approach, encouraging active collaboration between school and families. Each class worked closely with parent representatives to organise The Stroller Project, successfully securing a stroller tailored to their buddy’s needs. Alongside this, families generously contributed to thoughtfully prepared Essential Care Kits containing daily necessities such as nappies, milk, and medical supplies. This collective effort beautifully reflected the strength of our parent-school partnership.
On the day itself, we were honoured to welcome the seven children and their families to campus for a morning of warmth and connection. Our students presented songs and dances during a special assembly, creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere. Parent representatives from each level then personally presented the collected gifts and strollers to the families — a deeply moving and memorable moment for our entire community.
Love and Kindness Day is far more than a charitable initiative. It is a living lesson in empathy, gratitude, and social responsibility. Through this shared experience, our children not only gave generously but also learned to appreciate their own blessings and recognise the importance of caring for others. Together, we demonstrated that no act of kindness is ever too small — and that when a community unites with purpose, small hands can truly create a big impact.
