Junior School Celebration of Learning: Inspiring Student Voice and Inquiry-Based Learning

Our recent Celebration of Learning in the Junior School was a vibrant and meaningful reflection of student growth, agency, and inquiry in action. Each year level approached the celebration in a unique way, thoughtfully aligned with their Units of Inquiry. Classrooms were transformed into interactive learning spaces, where students designed engaging stations for parents to explore.

At these stations, learners confidently shared their understanding, explained their thinking, and made authentic connections to real-life contexts. It was inspiring to hear their voices articulate not just what they learned, but how they learned—demonstrating curiosity, reflection, and a deep sense of ownership.

Parents had the opportunity to browse through student portfolios, gaining insight into their child’s learning journey over time. These moments of reflection allowed families to appreciate the process, effort, and progress behind each piece of work, as well as the meaningful contributions students made to their units.

The celebration also highlighted the development of key skills across disciplines, reinforcing the purpose and impact of inquiry-based learning. Most importantly, we were proud to see our young learners embody the IB Learner Profile attributes, showcasing their growth as internationally minded individuals.

Events like these bring our entire community together, strengthening the home-school partnership and celebrating learning as a shared journey. It was a joyful reminder of the power of student voice and the richness of learning when it is made visible.
